In addition, there are vital statistics available to order online. These are also known as vital records. The County Clerk’s involvement in the Vital Statistics Department mostly includes issuing marriage licenses, recording birth and death certificates, and issuing certified copies. However, for other areas pertaining to vital records, the clerk is supported by the Vital Statistics Unit (“VSU”) of the Texas Department of State Health Services in Austin.

This can include things like court records, police reports, or other documents. Deeds are also common requests, which are used to transfer ownership of property. These, along with Abstracts of Judgment and Releases, Deeds of Trust, Oil & Gas Leases, Mechanic Liens, Releases of Liens, Affidavits, Power of Attorney, Hospital Liens, and Releases are filed in the Official Public Records as general documents.
